Welcome to the fantasy analytics. We all know the richest duck in the world. We all know that Scrooge Mcduck swims in the gold but how rich do you need to be to do that? Forbes puts him to be the richest fictional character in the world . In the story itself there are many mentions of his wealth . Even Wikipedia is not certain about his wealth
“The sum of Scrooge’s wealth is unclear. According to Barks’ The Second Richest Duck as noted by a TIME article, Scrooge is worth one multiplujillion, nine obsquatumatillion, six hundred twenty-three dollars and sixty-two cents. In the DuckTales episode “Liquid Assets”, Fenton Crackshell (Scrooge’s accountant) notes that McDuck’s money bin contains 607 tillion 386 zillion 947 trillion 522 billion dollars and 36 cents. Don Rosa‘s Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck notes that Scrooge amounts to five multiplujillion, nine impossibidillion, seven fantasticatrillion dollars and sixteen cents. A thought bubble from Scrooge McDuck sitting in his car with his Chauffeur in Walt Disney’s Christmas Parade No.1 (Published in 1949) that takes place in the story “Letter to Santa” clearly states “What’s the use of having eleven octillion dollars if I don’t make a big noise about it?””
But how reach is he? Let’s find out with analytics.
1. We all remember his money bin. Carl Barks has said that the money bin is three cubic acres. Now acre is an unit of Area , so we will assume this is the base of the Money Bin. This is how money bin looks like
2.It is safe to assume that money bin is twice as tall as it’s base’s one side. For our simplicity we will assume that this is a cuboid. That makes the volume to be 18,182,844 cubic Feet. Now comes the second part how much gold is in it?
3.As we can assume the diving board is at the same level as the windows seen outside. That will put the height of the gold stack around 70 % of the original height . That will make the volume occupied by gold stack around 12727990 Cubic feet.
4.Now the space is not completely filled with Gold coins. In a perfect stack a coin can obtain only 90 % of the volumes of cubiod. Rest 10 % will be space. Here the coins are thrown randomly so we will assume it will be less than 90% . We are taking the volume occupied by This coins due to their circular nature around 70% of the actual volume. So that is 8,909,593 cubic feet of gold.
5.1 cubic foot of gold equals to 1204 pounds of gold. So uncle Scrooge has 10,727,150,388 pounds of gold.
6. IF we count the gold price today . That makes the worth of money bin as 188,698,002,658,731 that is almost 188 trillion USD. We cannot forget that apart from this he owns other properties like oil companies and gold mines. To put things in prespective , the richest man today has 53.5 billion USD.
190 Trillion dollars and he still wants more . Strange world is not it?
